Trees and forests are at the heart of what we do at Milkwood. Since we began handmaking bespoke furniture in 2000, we have consistently looked for ways to offer a truly sustainable product. Our work is built to last, using timber from certified sources, made in our workshops powered with 75% renewable energy.
In 2020 we took a step further and teamed up with Mossy Earth, in order to support their incredible work restoring forests across Europe.
Your furniture plants trees
For each new piece of furniture we create, we commit to planting a tree on your behalf to be enjoyed by future generations. And for all our metropolitan projects we’ll plant a tree for every £250 spent with us. Our partners in this project, Mossy Earth are currently restoring native species in Scotland and Ireland, including willow, alder, birch, Scots pine, rowan holly, blackthorn and oak. In Portugal, they are restoring biodiverse oak woodlands on abandoned farmland currently prone to bushfires. Healthy, thriving forests provide vital habitats for a diversity of flora and fauna. In Ireland, these include the great spotted woodpecker, narrow-leaved helleborine, wood millet, red squirrels and Ireland's rarest native mammal - the pine marten. So you can enjoy your furniture knowing that it is contributing to the regeneration of Europe’s forests and wildlife.
