Here at Milkwood, we can help you design intelligent storage for clothes – or anything else you need to find a place for. If you’re planning or are in the process of converting your loft, then talk to us first about incorporating our elegant storage solutions into your plans. We’ve lots of great ideas and natty tricks to help you really maximise those awkward spaces - and we’ve years of experience in bringing them to life.

Wardrobes for a loft in Dalston, 2019

Thanks again for the wardrobe and cupboards... they are fantastic!

before…

Our brief was to maximise storage space for clothing in a newly converted loft. Turning the attic into a bedroom meant space was at even more of a premium.

The client wanted a clean and minimal look, so we used push to open latches on all doors and drawers. Interiors were in hard-wearing lacquered birch ply, with exteriors in matt white sprayed mdf.

The loft had small windows, so to compensate we built lighting into the wardrobes, with an led track running through each hanging rail, lighting up automatically when the doors are opened.

An added consideration was to be able to access the space under the eaves through an opening on the far wall. Behind the left hand door is a passageway rather than a wardrobe, yet we were able to do this in a way that maintained the symmetry from the exterior.

Between the posts under the eaves we cut a further opening to be able to fit in three angled units, just tall enough for a hanging rail at the front, with extra depth for further storage behind.
